LeTourneau University
This is a full-time, 45-week live-in position with 24-hour accountability, operating on the fluctuating workweek with the possibility of overtime pay. The Resident Director provides educational programming, advising, administration, and supervision in a residence hall. The responsibility is to create an atmosphere conducive to learning and living and to accomplish the goals of the institution, Student Life, and Residence Life.
The position of Resident Director is physically demanding, requiring an individual to respond immediately to emergencies, individual needs, maintenance problems, or spend time with students. Some residence halls contain multiple stories without access by elevator.
Administrative
Serve as a liaison between the university, students, and parents. Ensure Resident Assistants are informed daily of activities, problems, and occurrences in the hall. Monitor and oversee programs and activities by Resident Assistants. Provide students with university information through bulletin boards, meetings, and personal visits. Attend Student Life meetings, retreats, and committees as assigned. Perform duties assigned by the Dean of Students and Associate Dean for Residence Life. Assist in producing communication materials for residents. Serve as a role model to staff and students. Maintain confidentiality in dealings with students, parents, and staff. Maintain the hall as a conducive learning environment per university standards and mission. Follow the Faculty/Staff Handbook. Encourage the development of Christian principles and good study habits among residents. Spend quality time with students. Resident Staff
Assist in the selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of Resident Assistants. Schedule and supervise duty hours. Oversee and monitor Resident Assistants' duties and development. Conduct weekly training and meetings to foster personal growth and goal achievement. Hall Management
Oversee daily operations of the residence hall. Coordinate with the Associate Dean on paperwork, repairs, cleaning, and hall opening/closing. Counsel students and refer issues when necessary. Handle emergencies 24/7 on a rotating schedule. Assume duty schedules during weekends, weekdays, and holidays. Manage evacuations and stay with students during disasters. Spend extra time with students needing additional attention. Prevent property damage and investigate violations. Report emergencies immediately to the appropriate authorities. Conduct
Promote and monitor residents' conduct according to university values. Interpret, develop, and enforce policies. Investigate infractions and impose sanctions or refer as needed. Keep the Dean of Students and Associate Dean informed of cases.
