Dear Friend, Northampton Christian Church (NhCC) in Hampton, Virginia is currently asking the Lord to help us fill our full-time position of Worship Leader/Ministry Coordinator. NhCC is a non-denominational, independent Christian Church, located in Hampton, VA which is approximately 30 miles northwest of Virginia Beach, Va. NhCC celebrated its 63rd anniversary in May of this year. Our Sunday service consists of a balanced style of worship including traditional and contemporary elements of worship. We currently average 85 people each Sunday. Our church building has an auditorium with a seating capacity of approximately 300, a detached garage/picnic shelter, and a detached 1,800 square foot building with a kitchen useful for fellowship, meetings, and training events. The property encompasses approximately 6.5 acres. Our church maintains good financial health and seeks to grow our ministry here in the Hampton Roads area. Specifically, we are seeking a full-time person that is able to meet our current needs of both a Worship Leader and Ministry Coordinator. All candidates must be baptized followers of Jesus; committed to loving the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind and strength; loving others as themselves; committed to living for Jesus; following only the Word of God; and actively seek to make disciples of Jesus. They must also be willing to submit to the Biblical authority, teaching and leadership of the Elders who are given the God-ordained responsibility of leading God’s church, and without reservation, they must agree, not just in action, but in their heart of hearts, with the essential doctrines of Northampton Christian Church derived from God’s Word.

We have budgeted for 2025 and beyond for a full-time Lead Minister and a full-time Worship Leader/Ministry Coordinator. The compensation package shall be $40-$50,000 annually, consistent with the person’s training, education, skill set and experience. Additionally, the position includes vacation time and the opportunity to join the NhCC 403(b) matching retirement plan. This position will require most hours to be served in the office each week. Worship Leader/Ministry Coordinator Job Description Full-Time (40-hours) Worship Leader On the Worship Leader side of things, we are looking for someone that is musically talented, energetic, creative, and desires to grow and lead those in the church to worship the Lord. In the Worship Leader role, the ideal candidate will: Be willing to incorporate both traditional and contemporary elements of worship for our multi-generational church. Be passionate in exemplifying and leading people to worship the Lord in song. Be a person that possesses the heart of worshipping the Lord as opposed to a person that is performing. Be a creative individual who can help plan and create dynamic worship experiences. Be an accomplished and experienced musician with instrumental and vocal skills. Have previous experience of leading worship, developing a worship team and working in a church setting. Have good interpersonal skills and the ability to relate and communicate with people of all ages. Have a willingness to work musically with children and teens for special musical events/Sundays. Be self-motivated. Have a positive and encouraging attitude. Worship Leader Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Work in coordination with the Lead Minister and Tech Team to provide an inspirational worship environment in our corporate gatherings. Recruit and develop worship team members. Evaluate and assist in gathering resources to be used by the worship team. Provide and/or arrange musical selections for the worship team, researching and fully understanding each song’s background and origination, having carefully weighed the lyrics against the truth of God’s Word to determine whether or not it should be selected. Guide the congregation to understand the “why” and “how” of worshipping the Lord in song, developing a unified understanding for the church family of how we worship Jesus in Spirit and in Truth. Lead rehearsals, assist in planning of worship elements, and in the musical and spiritual development of worship team members. Lead times of corporate worship. Meet with worship ministry volunteers to disciple and pray with them as appropriate, investing in their lives for Christ. Meet with worship ministry volunteers to discuss and pray about upcoming events, challenges, solutions and praises happening within the worship team. Become proficient in using our specific worship technology. Ministry Coordinator

On the Ministry Coordinator side of things, we are also looking for someone with a desire to grow relationships and fellowship in the church family by overseeing the organization and implementation of our Ministry Teams.

In the Ministry Coordinator role, the ideal candidate will:

Have the ability and desire to connect with people of all ages in the church family. Be able to understand the entire ministry picture at NhCC and how to put together all the pieces and people to make the picture alive, complete and operating most effectively for His Kingdom. Be self-motivated. Have ability and experience planning, organizing and coordinating events. Have a working knowledge and willingness to use social media (e.g. Facebook, X, etc) Ministry Coordinator Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Develop a working knowledge and optimize best uses of Planning Center Online. Use social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, X, etc) to give our church family and ministry a digital presence for those in our church and those in our local community. Ministry Teams Coordinator

Ensure support, training, organization, and supplies for those who lead and volunteer on our Ministry Teams.

Current NhCC Ministry Teams are: Nursery, Children’s, Teen, Young Adult, Care Team, Women’s Group, Ladies Bible Study, Worship, Tech Team, Security, Outreach (e.g. Nursing Home, hospital, etc), Missions, First Impressions, Prayer Team, Hospitality, Food Pantry, Bible School.

Ensure people are identified and recruited to fill the roles and meet the needs of our Ministry Teams (for both leadership and non-leadership roles). Encourage people in the church family, by various means, to place them in areas they can serve the body. Evaluate effectiveness of ministry teams, always considering how to improve, remove, change or develop new teams as necessary.

Create and Coordinate Events for the church family (picnics, outings, special events, etc), working with the Lead Minister to do so. Maintain a calendar of events (e.g. annual, monthly, etc) Oversee and coordinate volunteer office duties (e.g. Sunday bulletin, attendance, etc) Report to and assist the Lead Minister as needed.
