Northampton Christian Church (NhCC) in Hampton, Virginia is seeking to fill a full-time position of Worship Leader/Ministry Coordinator. NhCC is a non-denominational, independent Christian Church located in Hampton, VA. The church celebrated its 63rd anniversary in May. The Sunday service features a balanced style of worship with traditional and contemporary elements, and the church averages 85 people each Sunday. The property includes a 300-seat auditorium, a detached garage/picnic shelter, a 1,800 square foot building with a kitchen, and roughly 6.5 acres of grounds. The church maintains good financial health and seeks to grow its ministry in the Hampton Roads area. We are seeking a full-time person who can meet the current needs of both a Worship Leader and Ministry Coordinator. Candidates must be baptized followers of Jesus, committed to loving the Lord and others, living according to the Word of God, and actively pursuing discipleship. They must be willing to submit to the Biblical authority, teaching, and leadership of the Elders and align with the essential doctrines of Northampton Christian Church derived from God’s Word. Current staff includes the Lead Minister, a temporary part-time Worship Leader, volunteers in the front office and other areas, and there is excitement about hiring this new position. A budget has been allocated for 2025 and beyond for a full-time Lead Minister and a full-time Worship Leader/Ministry Coordinator. The compensation package is $40,000–$50,000 annually, dependent on training, education, skill set, and experience. Full-Time (40 hours) Worship Leader

We are looking for a musically talented, energetic, creative person who desires to grow and lead those in the church to worship the Lord. Be willing to incorporate both traditional and contemporary elements of worship for a multi-generational church. Be passionate about exemplifying and leading people to worship the Lord in song. Value worship over performance and demonstrate the heart of worship. Be creative in planning and creating dynamic worship experiences. Be an accomplished and experienced musician with instrumental and vocal skills. Have previous experience leading worship, developing a worship team, and working in a church setting. Have good interpersonal skills and the ability to relate and communicate with people of all ages. Be willing to work musically with children and teens for special musical events and Sundays. Be self-motivated and maintain a positive, encouraging attitude. Worship Leader Responsibilities and Duties Work with the Lead Minister and Tech Team to provide an inspirational worship environment in corporate gatherings. Recruit and develop worship team members. Evaluate and gather resources for the worship team; ensure selections align with Biblical truth and church values. Guide the congregation to understand the why and how of worshiping the Lord in song, fostering a unified understanding of worship in Spirit and in Truth. Lead rehearsals, assist in planning worship elements, and support the musical and spiritual development of worship team members. Lead times of corporate worship. We are also seeking a person who desires to grow relationships and fellowship within the church by overseeing the organization and implementation of Ministry Teams. Connect with people of all ages and understand the ministry picture at NhCC to coordinate people and resources effectively. Be self-motivated and experienced in planning, organizing, and coordinating events. Have working knowledge of using social media (e.g., Facebook, X). Ministry Coordinator Responsibilities and Duties Develop working knowledge of Planning Center Online and optimize its use. Use social media to maintain a digital presence for the church and its ministries. Coordinate Ministry Teams: ensure support, training, organization, and supplies for leaders and volunteers; current teams include Nursery, Children’s, Teen, Young Adult, Care Team, Women’s Group, Ladies Bible Study, Worship, Tech Team, Security, Outreach, Missions, First Impressions, Prayer Team, Hospitality, Food Pantry, Bible School. Recruit and place people in leadership and service roles; encourage church members to serve. Evaluate and improve ministry teams as needed. Create and coordinate church events (picnics, outings, special events) with the Lead Minister; maintain an events calendar. Oversee and coordinate volunteer office duties (e.g., Sunday bulletin, attendance). Report to and assist the Lead Minister as needed.
