Job Summary: The Clark County Sheriff's Office is a dedicated law enforcement agency committed to serving and protecting our community. We seek a talented Digital Forensic Analyst to join our team.
As a Digital Forensic Analyst at the Clark County Sheriff's Office, the successful applicant will utilize their analytical skills and knowledge of criminology to assist deputies and investigators in solving crimes and improving community safety. The ideal candidate will have a background in law enforcement, criminology, or criminal justice, along with strong analytical, communication, and research skills.
Responsibilities will include:
Collect and analyze crime data to identify patterns, trends, and hot spots.
Prepare reports and maps detailing criminal activity.
Assist CCSO law enforcement in developing strategies to prevent and solve crimes.
Communicate findings to law enforcement and the public.
Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for crime mapping.
Stay current on research and developments in the field of crime analysis.
Testify in court as an expert witness if required.
Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
Work closely with crime prevention and community outreach departments.
The DFA may at times work with members of the body-worn camera team to analyze data generated by body-worn cameras and other law enforcement technologies, looking for patterns and trends that will assist the Sheriff's Office administration planning and community engagement.
Qualifications
Education:
associate’s degree or equivalent required, bachelor’s degree in information technology-related Data Analytics, Forensics, Crime Analysis, or Data Science highly desired. Experience:
Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in digital evidence analysis, crime analysis, or intelligence analysis, preferably in a law enforcement environment. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. United States Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident required. Computer skills:
Intermediate skills utilizing two or more of the following platforms used for digital forensics analysis: EnCase, Cellebrite, X-Ways, Axiom, Griffeye, Recon, and AccessData FTK. Preferred programming language: SQL, TSQL, Python, and/or DAX. Required Licenses and/or Certifications:
At least one industry-accepted certification directly related to digital forensics. Knowledge of:
methods, and practices of investigation; evidence identification and collection; Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android operating systems, hardware, and other peripherals; rules of evidence and applicable laws. Ability to:
demonstrate critical thinking skills that translate into written reports; collect, preserve, label, catalog, and store body-worn and vehicle-mounted camera footage as evidentiary items for presentation in criminal proceedings by legal standards.
