Location: Austin, Texas Job type: Permanent Salary: $100,000 - 130,000 per year Work hours: 9am to 5pm Education: Bachelor’s degree Responsibilities
Systems & Infrastructure Management: Install, administer, and patch Microsoft Windows Servers within a large VMware virtualized environment. Manage Active Directory services and ensure the health and security of the server infrastructure. Database Administration & Performance: Administer Microsoft SQL Servers (2012-2022). Perform performance tuning using tools like SQL Profiler and Extended Events, and manage SQL services including SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS. Cloud & DevOps Integration: Work with Microsoft Azure cloud, utilizing Azure DevOps for processes and contributing to the organization’s cloud strategy. Security & Compliance: Maintain security and compliance in a SOX/SOC II regulated environment. Follow and promote strong change management for deployments and system modifications, including occasional after-hours work. Troubleshooting & Support: Serve as a key technical resource, diagnose complex issues across integrated systems, and document processes and solutions. Qualifications
Required (Must-Haves)
5+ years of Microsoft SQL Server Administration (2012-2022), including hands-on work with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS. 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems (Client and Server). 5+ years of experience writing and optimizing T-SQL. 2+ years of experience with VMware or similar virtualization. 1-2+ years of PowerShell scripting. Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud and Azure DevOps. Solid understanding of Microsoft Active Directory principles and management. Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work autonomously or in a team within a complex production environment. Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills. Ability to work a hybrid schedule with three onsite days in Austin, TX (typically Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and an early start time (between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM). Preferred (Nice-to-Haves)
2+ years of Windows Clustering and/or Always On configurations. Experience with systems monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Idera, Quest, Prometheus/Grafana). Experience in Financial, Banking, or other highly regulated industries. Familiarity with ticketing systems like ServiceNow. Exposure to Linux OS, Docker, or Kubernetes.
