Sr. SQL / Microsoft Database Administrator – Contract
We have an immediate need for a Windows/ SQL Database Administrator for a contract to hire opportunity in Austin, TX. This role will require three days a week onsite.

Responsibilities
Systems & Infrastructure Management: Take ownership of the installation, administration, and patching of Microsoft Windows Servers within a large VMware virtualized environment. Manage Active Directory services and ensure the health and security of the server infrastructure.
Database Administration & Performance: Administer a wide range of Microsoft SQL Servers (2012-2022). Perform performance tuning using tools like SQL Profiler and Extended Events, and manage SQL services including SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.
Cloud & DevOps Integration: Operate comfortably within the Microsoft Azure cloud, utilizing Azure DevOps for various processes and contributing to the organization's cloud strategy.
Security & Compliance: Uphold stringent security and compliance standards within a SOX/SOCII regulated environment. Adhere to and promote strong change management processes for all deployments and system modifications, including occasional after-hours work.
Troubleshooting & Support: Act as a key technical resource, troubleshooting complex issues across integrated systems and providing robust documentation for all processes and solutions.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server Administration (2012-2022), including hands‑on work with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.
5+ years of experience with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems (Client and Server).
5+ years of experience writing and optimizing T‑SQL.
2+ years of experience working in a VMware or similar virtual server infrastructure.
1-2+ years of experience scripting with PowerShell.
Proven experience working within the Microsoft Azure cloud and with Azure DevOps.
Solid understanding of Microsoft Active Directory principles and management.
A proactive, self‑motivated professional who thrives in both autonomous and team‑based projects within a complex production environment.
Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Ability to work a hybrid schedule with three days onsite in Austin, TX (typically Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and an early start time (between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM).
Preferred (Nice‑to‑Haves): 2+ years of experience with Windows Clustering and/or Always On configurations. Hands‑on experience with systems monitoring software (e.g., Dynatrace, Idera, Quest, PrometheGrafana). Previous experience in a financial, banking, or other highly regulated industry. Familiarity with ticketing systems like ServiceNow. Exposure to Linux OS, Docker, or Kubernetes.
