Base pay range $100,000.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr

Responsibilities CURE Auto Insurance is a leading direct writer of auto insurance in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. Staff Counsel for CURE Auto Insurance has openings resulting from our launch and expansion into the Michigan market. We are looking for an experienced PIP defense attorney with 2+ years of civil litigation experience in handling these types of claims. This experience should include taking and defending depositions, negotiation proficiency, and experience successfully trying cases. Leadership potential is available as we continue to expand. Staff Counsel will be responsible for handling PIP files from inception through trial and appeal, if necessary. All candidates must possess excellent academic credentials, outstanding written and oral advocacy skills and strong software/technological skills including competency in Word, Outlook and Westlaw. Ideal candidates will be well organized, detail oriented and able to independently manage a caseload where work is time sensitive.

Qualifications 2+ years of experience handling PIP litigation from inception to conclusion. Additional handling of first and third party claims for auto carriers a plus.

Ability to take full responsibility for files

Must be able to handle a full inventory of files

Knowledge of local and state discovery rules, trial procedures, and applicable substantive law commensurate with level of experience

Experience presenting and cross-examining lay and expert witnesses

Experience directing support staff on clerical and administrative matters related to lawsuit handling

Experience working in a paperless electronic environment

Strong automation/technological skills for lawsuit handling and courtroom presentation

Preferred qualification is the handling of Insurance defense matters

Perform other duties as assigned.

Must have a law degree from an A.B.A. accredited law school and excellent academic credentials

Must have an active law license to practice in Michigan and a member in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan

Office Location: Southfield, MI

Starting Salary: $100,000 - 170,000 annually based on experience

Operating Model: We offer a hybrid work schedule: team members work onsite 4 days per week and have the flexibility to work remotely 1 day per week.
