What We’re Looking For Walstrom Marine is seeking a Gel & Fiberglass Technician to join our Cheboygan team. While marine experience is a plus, we are happy to train individuals with a strong work ethic and the right skill set. Main Duties and Responsibilities

Perform painting, gelcoat, and fiberglass repairs on marine vessels to the highest standards within specified timeframes.

Prepare surfaces by sanding, cleaning, masking, and other necessary prep work to ensure optimal adhesion and finish quality.

Apply paint, gelcoat, and fiberglass materials using professional techniques, ensuring smooth, durable, and aesthetically pleasing results.

Conduct wet sanding, buffing, and polishing, to achieve a flawless finish.

Communicate effectively with Service Advisors to provide accurate diagnosis, repair recommendations, and cost estimates.

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, including regular cleaning and proper storage of tools, equipment, and materials.

Stay current on industry standards, technical service bulletins, and new repair techniques though ongoing training and professional development.

Document all work performed, including time, materials used, and notes on repair orders, to ensure accurate service records.

Requirements and Qualifications Previous experience in painting, gelcoat application, and fiberglass repair, preferably in a marine or automotive environment.

Schedule

8-hour shift

Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm, Saturday availability required during summer months
