Job Summary
Join a high-impact DevSecOps and Kubernetes engineering team supporting Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) projects. As the lead OpenShift engineer, you’ll drive container orchestration, pipeline automation, and secure deployments for critical public sector applications. You will mentor teams, establish best practices, and ensure that technology aligns with business goals across complex systems. Key Responsibilities
Lead engineering efforts across DevSecOps and container platforms for DHHS initiatives Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps (ADO) Automate builds and deployments across OpenShift, Linux, Windows, SQL Server, and Oracle Guide developers on platform fit and secure development lifecycle practices Create infrastructure as code for apps deployed in OpenShift / Kubernetes Build and convert Docker/S2I images and manage Quay repositories Administer and configure Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) Create and maintain deployment documents and automation standards Integrate static code and vulnerability scanners (e.g., SonarQube, Coverity, Black Duck) Collaborate cross-functionally for deployment, upgrades, and troubleshooting Required Experience
8+ years working with Kubernetes/OpenShift 8+ years of Linux shell scripting 5+ years in application containerization management Hands-on expertise with Azure DevOps, Docker, SonarQube, Linux, Python, S2I Experience with ELK stack (v8+), LDAP, NGINX, and WebSphere Previous use of Black Duck, Coverity, or similar security tools Nice-to-Have Experience
Elastic Beats tools (Filebeat, Heartbeat) Grok filters and advanced Logstash configurations Working knowledge of SSL, TCP/IP networking Debugging experience with Java applications Required Skills
Azure DevOps (CI/CD pipelines, Git repos, PR flows) OpenShift 4.x, Kubernetes, Docker Linux scripting (bash, ksh, shell) ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) Python, LDAP, S2I, Helm Charts Preferred Skills
Experience with container orchestration at scale Strong automation and documentation practices Ability to train and mentor junior engineers Additional Skills
