This position functions as lead DevSecOps/Azure DevOps/OpenShift (Kubernetes) engineer responsible for supporting large Department of Health and Human Services Health Services (DHHS) projects. Contributes considerable business and technical knowledge to complex IT projects. The DevSecOps / OpenShift (Kubernetes) Engineer will provide leadership and direction, mentoring team members to drive organizational maturity. The role will consult with development teams to ensure platform fit is aligned to the business application requirements. Additionally, understanding of APIs, micro-services development, containers and supporting platform technologies is required. Responsibilities
Provide leadership and direction to DevSecOps/OpenShift/Kubernetes engineering efforts and mentor team members to raise organizational maturity. Consult with development teams to ensure platform fit is aligned with business application requirements. Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and OpenShift container platforms. Automate build, deployment, and operations processes for applications across Linux, Windows, SQL Server, Oracle, and related technologies. Develop and maintain documentation for processes and automation. Manage and troubleshoot Red Hat OpenShift V4 environments, container orchestration, and related tooling (Docker, S2I, Helm). Collaborate with teams to ensure successful deployment, upgrade, and maintenance of products. Support Elastic Stack administration (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) including performance and retention management. Assist in integrating code quality and security tooling (e.g., SonarQube) into CI/CD pipelines. Qualifications
Experience with Azure DevOps (ADO) including wiki design, work item structures, pipelines, Git repos/branches/PRs, and related standards and processes. Hands-on experience automating CI/CD on Red Hat OpenShift / OCP, Linux, Windows, SQL Server, Oracle, etc. Experience creating ADO Build and Deploy Pipelines for apps and container images, including integration with Tomcat/JBoss/SQL Server/Oracle environments. Experience producing documents for process and automation. Strong experience with Red Hat OpenShift V4 and troubleshooting in OpenShift Container Platform. Experience creating Build, Deployment, and other CRD config files for applications on OpenShift. Hands-on experience creating Docker and S2I images, including conversions between Docker and S2I images. Working knowledge of OpenShift/Kubernetes and container orchestration, including custom Helm charts. Knowledge of maintaining Docker image repositories (e.g., Quay). Experience in creating Dockerfiles, images, and containers; ability to work with diverse teams. Deep knowledge of Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) version 8.x+ and related administration, performance, and indexing retention management. Logstash pipeline configuration and grok experience; familiarity with Beats (Filebeat, Heartbeat). Experience with SonarQube/Coverity/Black Duck and integrating into Azure DevOps pipelines and PR flows. Experience with Linux scripting (ksh, bash, Python) and debugging Java errors. Strong knowledge of SSL, TCP/IP networking, and LDAP. Excellent communication and teamwork skills; able to work with diverse teams and independently. Self-starter with strong organization, planning, documentation, and time-management skills. Required Experience And Skills
8+ years of experience working on Kubernetes/OpenShift. 8+ years of experience in Linux shell scripting. 5+ years as an expert in application containerization management. Experience in DevSecOps practices, infrastructure, scripting/programming. 5+ years of experience with the following skill sets: OpenShift, Azure DevOps, ELK Stack, Docker, SonarQube, Black Duck, Linux, Bash, Shell, S2I, Python, NGINX, WebSphere, LDAP.
