Executive Director, Head of Family Office and Tax Controller - Single Family Office
An established Single Family Office seeks a highly skilled and motivated Controller to join their dynamic accounting team. This role supports the financial operations of a sophisticated portfolio, managing accurate records for the family’s diverse holdings, including Investment LLCs, trusts, and nonprofit entities. The portfolio spans traditional public market investments (equities, fixed income) and alternative strategies (private equity, private credit, hedge funds, and real assets). Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial reports for the Principal and their family, ensuring clarity and actionable insights.
Maintain detailed work papers and accounting records for asset transfers, noncash distributions, and complex transactions.
Produce financial statements and documentation to support engagements with financial institutions, investment managers, and transactional needs.
Oversee treasury functions, including cash flow management, liquidity planning, and banking relationships.
Lead and support ad-hoc projects, including financial analysis, process improvements, and strategic initiatives.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners (e.g., investment managers, legal advisors) to ensure seamless financial operations.
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years in a similar role within a Family Office or comparable financial environment, with a strong background in managing complex portfolios.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) is a plus.
