Job Description
The Floor Technician is responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surface and carpet (stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction, and bonneting) areas that include offices, classrooms, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and other public areas. Also, maintain a high level of cleanliness by performing various cleaning tasks and meeting rooms set-ups. Provide high-level customer service and uphold Webb Center and Broderick Dining staff's work values.
Responsibilities
Perform floor maintenance on hard surfaces and carpet (stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction, bonneting).
Clean and maintain offices, classrooms, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and other public areas.
Set up meeting rooms as needed.
Provide high-level customer service and uphold the work values of Webb Center and Broderick Dining staff.
Qualifications
Working knowledge of basic housekeeping techniques and equipment.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to stand for extended periods (five hours or more).
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. many times per day.
Ability to learn, retain and utilize training procedures.
Ability to read and write, understand and follow oral instructions.
Education or Training None
Level and Type of Experience Some floor maintenance experience. Considerable floor maintenance experience.
Special Licenses, Registration or Certification None
Conditions of Employment Facilities Management employees are considered essential personnel and subject to working during university closings. Hourly (wage) employees are restricted to working 29 hours per week on average or 1500 hours in total in the May 1 – April 30 period. This position does not have health insurance, retirement or leave. This is an open until filled recruitment. This recruitment may close after the five-day required posting period when a suitable pool of applicants has been generated.
