$66,591 + 1,380 Masters Stipend = $67,971 Hours:
8:00AM - 4:00PM Position Summary:
The Coordinator, Staff and Curriculum Development, Differentiated Instruction strives to meet the organizational and professional needs of the districts for which they support. The Coordinator will work with the Director, Associate Director, Supervisors, other Coordinators, Staff and Curriculum Development, Differentiated Instruction and Technology Integration to assist with building leadership capacity and to promote system change in teaching and learning. The role provides quality, sustained professional development that connects educators with innovative approaches to prepare students for college and career paths. Job Responsibilities: Special Education and Behavior Support
Must hold valid NYS Teaching certification in Special Education or School Social Work; additional certification in Administrative Leadership and a background in community partnerships, behavioral support, and restorative practices preferred. At least three years of full-time teaching or Social Work experience is required. Knowledge of research-based instructional practices and content delivery on the New York State Standards using Specially Designed Instruction, assessment development, and a background in data-informed decision processes. The successful candidate should have strong communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to connect with adult learners. Deliver professional development, instructional coaching, modeling, and support classroom lesson delivery. Knowledge and practice with technology integration including educational software products, cloud tools (Google/Microsoft Office), and integration into daily lesson plans. Background in Co-Teaching strategies, de-escalation skills, and MTSS preferred. Leadership Capacity Building Provides information and planning to superintendents, central office personnel, principals, teachers, students, and Board of Education, as well as internal BOCES staff for NYS Education Department reform efforts and local/regional initiatives. Guides district decision-makers in the efficient use of Erie 1 BOCES services and how to implement NYSED reform efforts and initiatives. Becomes familiar with current research, new theories, and current and proposed laws and regulations related to teaching, learning and leadership; disseminates information as appropriate. Identifies challenges districts face in implementing NYSED reforms and collaborates with other BOCES personnel to develop solutions. Service Development Assesses and communicates emerging customer needs related to curriculum, instruction, assessment and data analysis. Identifies district needs and recommends professional learning and programming to support effective teaching and student achievement. Service Delivery Works collaboratively with coordinators to provide administrative information, resources, and support to district leaders based on local/state/federal initiatives. Delivers high-quality professional development opportunities customized to district and school needs; topics include teacher and leader evaluation, curriculum and assessment planning, data-driven instruction, coaching, modeling best practices, and development of curriculum projects. Coordinates professional development delivery with clerical and district staff to ensure billing and accountability procedures are followed. Demonstrates credibility with teachers, administrators, educational partners, and outside organizations. Develops services and/or writes grants to obtain funds to meet needs. Provides timely communication in response to inquiries and follows up on professional development activities. Internal and External Communication Promotes the division’s vision for good customer service. Develops appropriate channels of communication to deliver new and existing services across departments. Facilitates electronic communication using appropriate technologies. Professional Responsibilities Actively seeks out research-based educational best practices for curriculum, assessment, instruction, and staff development for adult learners. Keeps current on best practices through reading and ongoing collaboration with Western New York Regional Information Center, Erie 1 BOCES, other BOCES, school boards, and external professionals. Attends regular statewide meetings in Albany as needed. Maintains a leadership role in curriculum, assessment, instruction and data analysis by presenting at local and statewide conferences. Other Staff will report to a regularly assigned workplace, which may be a school district location based on FTE district participation. Performs other related tasks as assigned.
