Overview
The Client Operations Services & Legal Project Management team supports the delivery of legal services by enhancing matter management, budgeting, data analysis and process improvement. The Manager provides guidance on matter management best practices and tools to lawyers, clients and staff to ensure efficient execution and strong client relationships. The role involves influencing outcomes, driving process improvement, and change management. Responsibilities
Collaborate with R&G lawyers and support staff to understand practices, priorities and client challenges; align support and service delivery with practice priorities. Lead client relationship and practice group support with senior analysts and the infrastructure team, leveraging their technical expertise. Work with partners and client legal departments to design and implement processes and tools that address client priorities and enhance relationships. Develop and maintain a portfolio of practice-specific resources to help lawyers communicate costs and scope, spot risks for overruns, monitor run rates, and optimize service delivery using technology and knowledge resources. Apply and advocate for legal project management best practices including scoping, budgeting, progress reporting, team/client communication and efficiency (including technology and alternative staffing). Partner with peers across Finance, Business Development, Practice Development, Knowledge Management and other support teams to design innovative solutions and drive process improvement. Utilize team technology platforms and data storytelling to optimize matter management; analyze financial metrics and use insights to inform lawyers. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; J.D. or MBA preferred. At least 7 years of experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, financial institution or other large complex organization; professional services experience preferred. Strong client service orientation with financial acumen. Experience leading teams and solving problems creatively. Essential Capabilities
Maintain confidentiality of firm and client information; understand ethics related to confidentiality, billing and client advocacy. Build relationships, influence and collaborate across practice groups and departments. Explain solutions to stakeholders within a legal project management framework and secure buy-in from legal teams. Work effectively in a multi-office and diverse environment; travel as needed for a global firm. Compensation And Total Rewards
Ropes & Gray offers a comprehensive Total Rewards package including health and well-being benefits, development opportunities and a collegial culture. The anticipated pay range is provided by location and may include a discretionary bonus based on performance. Rates are determined based on qualifications, experience, location, market data and internal equity. Boston: $123,200 - $187,950 New York: $129,100 - $196,900 Working Conditions
