The Department of Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy at Georgia College & State University invites applications for a tenure track position in Chemistry to begin August 2026. This position will teach courses in biochemistry, organic chemistry and the first-year sequence in chemistry at the undergraduate level. Successful candidates are expected to engage students in research and/or creative activities. Department Information The Department of Chemistry, Physics, and Astronomy hosts an American Chemical Society accredited chemistry program. The chemistry program is supported by state-of-the-art instrumentation, including a 400 MHz 9.4 T NMR Spectrometer, SPD-20A, Shimadzu HPLC, Agilent 8860GC-5977B MSD, IRAffinity-1S FTIR, MacroRam Raman Spectrometer, and UV-2600i UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, among others. Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements as stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials)). Minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Chemistry. Additional Preferred Qualifications Experience with active learning pedagogies. Experience supervising laboratory assistants. A record of published biochemistry research. Teaching Responsibilities Full-time instructional load teaching (12 contact hours) in areas of expertise within the academic discipline Regular course meetings and instruction Mentoring Students Faculty - Service to Institution All faculty are expected to support the advancement of the department, college and university mission by providing service to the institution. Service may be at the department, college, university, community and/or disciplinary level. Duties include service on college-level and university-level committees, advising students regarding career options, and support of department-level outreach activities.
