Job Summary The College of Arts & Sciences seeks a Lecturer to teach undergraduate courses in first-year physics sequences and their corresponding labs. The position may also be called upon to teach in the advanced physics labs including use of the machine shop. As the primary instructor for physics labs, the successful candidate will coordinate lab activities and continue edits of the lab manuals. This non-tenure track faculty position, based in the Department of Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy, is a 10-month academic year position. Responsibilities Faculty - Teaching/Instructing -
Full-time instructional load teaching (5 courses) in areas of expertise within the academic discipline Regular course meetings and instruction Mentoring Students Ability to maintain internally developed Physics and Astronomy lab materials and resources Maintenance and weekly set up of equipment for either the Astronomy or Physics laboratories Other teaching responsibilities Knowledge and ability to convey current philosophies, practices, and theories related to the academic discipline Faculty also contribute to the Georgia College core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses. All Georgia College faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non-majors alike.
