Overview
The Minneapolis Convention Center (MCC) is a relationship building. Each individual at MCC is a hospitality hero who fulfills our mission by providing service and fostering relationships. The Guest Service Support Technician is responsible for monitoring and operating various Convention Center systems controlling life-safety, access-control, and will use CCTV and SKIDATA parking ramp and Computer Aided Dispatch systems. The position will collect and gather information for incident report cases and coordinate the storage and delivery of exhibitor freight and drayage. This is a on-site role with shift from 10:00pm - 6:00am, Thursday through Sunday (32 hours/week). Responsibilities
Uphold the standards of service outlined in our IMPACT statement and City of Minneapolis policy. Ensure security provider contract compliance and implement department policies and direction. Monitor internal life safety and security systems with the goal of proactively preventing issues/incidents. Monitor external information systems to ensure the Convention Center Command Center and Management Team are aware of external issues, potential or real threats, and severe weather situations. Document all incidents/activity with clear, detailed communication that is easily understood and archived for future use. Dispatch and monitor response times of incidents by internal and external agencies toward a goal of three-minute response times. Manage equipment inventory to ensure that levels are maintained and in good working order, and ensure equipment is used only by authorized individuals. Maintain access control systems, and access through work orders or special requests, to ensure specific spaces are secure when required. Maintain CCTV system and accommodate video review requests with regards to city data policies. Act as the Convention Center\'s 24-hour call center to provide information to all stakeholders with an emphasis on prompt customer service and effective task completion. Look up information and resolve issues quickly using tools such as printed documents, event information software, the internet, and inter-department relationships. Accept, log, store, and disperse lost and found items per department policy, acting as the contact for all lost and found requests. Monitor building and event activity; oversee department staff, leadership, and guest levels, and how chain of command fluctuates during different work shifts and events. Perform functions and act as the Manager on Duty in the absence of high-level staff. Maintain and organize Shipping & Receiving inventory and holding space. Enter drayage information and generate invoicing in the event information software. Accept, track, and release deliveries, freight, and drayage to internal and external customers. Required Qualifications
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED. Minimum Experience: Two Years of related customer service experience. Licenses / Certifications: Forklift training and certification; Electrical Lift training and certification; NIMS/ICS online courses: ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800; Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) Certification. Selection Process
The selection process will consist of one or more of the following steps: rating of relevant education and experience and/or an oral examination (100%). It is important that your application shows all the relevant education and experience you possess. A submitted application is also used to verify the answers to any supplemental questions. Only those candidates who attain a passing score (70%) on each step in the selection process will be placed on the eligible list. The City of Minneapolis Human Resources Department reserves the right to limit the number in any phase of the selection process. Background Check
The City has determined that a criminal background check and/or qualifications check may be necessary for certain positions with this job title. Applicants may be required to sign an informed consent form allowing the City to obtain their criminal history and/or verify their qualifications in connection with the position sought. All job applicants must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test once a conditional offer of employment has been made. Work Location: On-site only. The City of Minneapolis does not sponsor applicants for work visas. Shift: 10:00pm - 6:00am, Thursday through Sunday (32 hours/week). Salary: Anticipated starting salary range: $27.764 - $33.745 /hour, depending on qualifications. Pay differential applies for appropriate shifts (see below). Pay Differentials: On a 24-hour basis; additional rates apply for shifts beginning between specific times (as described in the original posting).
