Overview

Operating Maintenance Engineer I role at City of Minneapolis. The Minneapolis Convention Center (MCC) is a large building asset and hosts over 300 events annually, focusing on service excellence and guest experience. The position is on-site and salary is commensurate with qualifications. Responsibilities

Operate, maintain and repair the 109 air handling units, 69 fan coil units, exhaust and transfer fans, including coils, heating and cooling valves, actuators, dampers, and valves. Operate, maintain and repair the High-Pressure steam system used for building heat and kitchen steam. Provide essential support to maintain optimal HVAC system functions. Provide operational diagnostics on the Building Automation System to ensure proper temperatures in exhibition halls, auditorium, ballrooms, meeting rooms, concourses, and offices. Ensure proper operation of plumbing systems, including touchless toilets, urinals, flushometers, soap dispensers, faucets, waste lines, dishwashers, and drinking fountains/bottle filler stations; perform cartridge filter replacement on water supply lines. Perform emergency generator and fire sprinkler system pumps safety checks and load testing; maintain dry-fire sprinkler system components. Knowledge of fire extinguisher types and replacement; assist with annual testing and inspection of extinguishers with contractors. Facilities maintenance including operable wall panels, overhead rollup doors, and related components. Maintenance and repair of a large fleet of battery-powered lifts, forklifts, Cushman tugs, and scissors/articulating lifts. Refrigeration maintenance and repair of ice machines, walk-in coolers/freezers, and drinking fountains. Provide troubleshooting and maintenance on low-voltage building automation systems. Perform preventive maintenance on a daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly schedule. Welding, soldering, brazing and metal fabrication as required. Make estimates and maintain records of time and materials, order materials, and submit reports; maintain temperature, pressure, and other equipment status logs. Working Conditions

Ability to walk or stand for long periods; exposure to high voltage equipment, chemicals, fumes, dust, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, heights, poor lighting, burn hazards, and loud noises. Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Three years of post-high school education, specialized training, trades apprenticeship or equivalent in HVAC control systems; at least three years of related experience with a minimum of one year with a boiler license. Licenses/Certifications: State of Minnesota Class 2-C Boiler License. Note: You must submit a copy of your boiler license with your official application to be considered. The selection process includes evaluation of education and experience (100%). A passing score (70%) on each step will place candidates on the eligible list. The City reserves the right to limit the number of candidates in any phase. A criminal background check and/or qualifications check may be required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of computer operating systems and networking; strong mechanical aptitude; ability to work independently and with diverse groups. Working knowledge of electrical systems and HVAC systems with troubleshooting skills. Experience with computerized building automation systems and tools for mechanical operation of a large public facility. Ability to read equipment blueprints and schematics; troubleshoot building equipment and perform maintenance. Ability to weld, solder, and braze; physically able to lift up to 70 pounds and maneuver items over 100 pounds; ability to walk or stand for long periods.
