Overview Performs duties relating to the cutting, preparation, display, and selling of meat products. All Whole Foods Market Retail jobs require ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times. Positions must follow store Standard Operating Procedures and may require performing duties from other team member job descriptions. The role supports WFM core values and goals, and adherence to health, safety, and regulatory requirements in the department.

Base pay $18.00/hr - $30.20/hr

Responsibilities

Cuts, platters, and merchandises products (beef, pork, lamb, veal, poultry).

Prepares specialty meat merchandise (e.g., sausage, oven ready products, cured meats).

Checks products to ensure they meet WFM quality standards.

Maintains sampling program and assists in preventing spoilage.

Mentors and supports assigned Meat Cutter Trainee(s).

Arrives on time, appropriately groomed and ready to work; completes scheduled shifts and required trainings.

Delivers excellent customer service, addresses customer needs, and uses suggestive selling techniques; answers phones promptly and courteously.

Maximizes sales through proper prep, storage, rotation, stocking, and merchandising.

Complies with procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.

Maintains a clean, sanitary working and shopping environment; ensures equipment cleanliness and safety.

Performs opening, mid, and closing duties; ensures accuracy of signs and pricing.

Reports safety hazards and violations immediately.

Performs other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.

Qualifications / Experience

14+ months of retail experience.

Successful completion of WFM Butcher Apprentice Program, or an equivalent training program.

UK exceptions may apply.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour day.

Hand use: grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.

Motion requirements: bending, twisting, squatting, reaching.

Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.

Temperature exposure: below 32°F, 32-40°F, and above 90°F.

Work in a wet and cold environment; handle knives and cutting equipment.

Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Use of tools and equipment, including box cutters and electric pallet jacks.
