Overview

FY26, Teacher, Special Education, HSM, Summit Hall ES, 0.8 FTE at Montgomery County Public Schools. This role provides direct instruction and instructional support to students with disabilities, in collaboration with the general education teacher, under the direction of the school principal and special education supervisor. Responsibilities

Provide direct instruction and instructional support to students with disabilities. Collaborate with general education teachers to support student learning. Monitor and evaluate outcomes for students with disabilities. Assist in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by MCPS agreements. Complete required course work for MCPS if employed in special education settings (including courses in behavioral management and nonviolent crisis interventions) and support behavioral interventions as needed. Hours: 8:15 AM – 2:30 PM, daily. Wage range: 80% of a salary between $64,591 and $131,472 based on education and experience. Bachelor's degree in special education from an accredited college or university. Fluent in learning theory, differentiated instruction, developmental reading, child development, applied behavior analysis, and assessment as applicable to the position. Student teaching in the area of exceptionality or two years of teaching experience at a level appropriate to assignment (elementary or secondary). Meets Maryland State Department of Education certification requirements for Standard Professional Certification I (SPC I) in special education; certification in a content area is desirable. Knowledge of MCPS curriculum, IEP processes, data collection, and best instructional practices; strong communication skills; ability to adapt instructional programs and materials; familiarity with TPGS standards.
