Responsibilities The Sous Chef is accountable for the overall success of the daily kitchen operations and leads the staff to ensure high-quality food production across assigned stations.
Performs cookery duties, portion control, garnishing, and follows standard recipes as directed by the Resort Executive Chef and Managing Chef.
Supervises kitchen areas, ensures sanitation and food standards are achieved, and develops staff including direct reports.
Maintains open communication with lead cooks, sous chefs, and the dining room team; coordinates with other departments as needed.
Ensures production of food in a timely manner and maintains quality, taste, and presentation per Horseshoe Bay Resort standards.
Maintains organization and cleanliness of walk-in coolers and food storage areas; ensures proper rotation of inventory.
Adheres to safety, sanitation, and local health code standards; follows Standard Operating Procedures.
Participates in daily stand-up, pre-cons, staff meetings, and other departmental trainings.
Supports associates and fosters a positive work environment, providing coaching and feedback as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned by Culinary and Property Leadership.
Qualifications & Standards Required Certifications: Food Handler’s Certificate; Servsafe/manager certification preferred; minimum age 18+
Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED; 4 years’ experience in culinary, food and beverage, or related area; or 2-year degree in Culinary Arts/Hotel and Restaurant Management with 2 years’ related experience.
Skills: Excellent communication, ability to lead teams, proficiency with Microsoft Word/Excel; experience with Agilysys preferred.
Safety & Integrity: Adherence to safety guidelines, proper uniform standards, and confidential information handling.
