Glyphic is seeking a highly motivated and multidisciplinary Senior Research Associate/Scientist to join the Platform Development Team to assist in the advancement of our cutting-edge single molecule proteome sequencing platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in protein and nucleic acid biochemistry, bioconjugation methods, and assay development. Experience with automation platforms and a process development mindset is highly valued, as this role involves taking experimental workflows and making them robust, reproducible, and scalable. The successful candidate will collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and bioinformaticians to deliver consistent results and insights that accelerate platform development.
This is a full-time, exempt, in-person position with work conducted at our Berkeley, CA location. What you’ll do
Optimize assay workflows to support single-molecule sequencing, ensuring robustness and reproducibility. Design and execute experiments bridging chemistry and molecular biology. Partner with engineers to run and refine automated protocols that increase throughput and consistency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and integrate new processes into the sequencing workflow. Analyze experimental data, generate detailed reports, and provide actionable insights to guide further development. Apply statistical methods and process evaluation tools to ensure workflow quality and performance. Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation of protocols, SOPs, and results. Contribute to process innovation and support technology transfer as workflows mature. What you need
Required : B.S./M.S. in Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a related field. 3+ years of industry or equivalent experience in assay or process development. Experience with bioconjugation methods (e.g., nucleic acids, proteins/peptides, surface coupling). Solid foundation in molecular biology techniques and next-generation sequencing, with a preference for Nanopore technologies. Deep understanding and hands-on experience with spectroscopic analytical tools (e.g., fluorescence, UV-Vis, flow cytometry, FTIR). Proficiency with automation platforms for liquid handling (e.g. Hamilton, ThermoFisher, Agilent). Familiarity with separation science (e.g. Chromatography, electrophoresis, liquid-liquid phase separation) Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work seamlessly with colleagues from diverse scientific and technical backgrounds. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities. Nice to have : Familiarity with surface chemistry for flow cells or solid supports. Experience with environmental controls (e.g., temperature, humidity, oxygen) Hands-on experience with HPLC, LC-MS, or capillary electrophoresis. Familiarity with biological and/or analytical sample preparation methods Familiarity with statistical methods or computational tools for process/data analysis. Experience supporting technology transfer into production environments. Compensation Estimated Base Salary $99,000 - $144,000 This is the pay range for this position that we reasonably expect to pay. Individual compensation is based on various factors including, experience, education, skillset, and geographic location.
