Analyze, demonstrate, and explain basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of softball. Instruct student-athletes in the safety practices associated with softball. Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship. Recruit, train, and supervise assistant varsity and junior varsity coaches in conjunction with the Director of Athletics. Understand and implement all appropriate rules and regulations according to SCHSL guidelines. Work with administrators and faculty to plan and implement instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student-athletes. Collaborate with coaches at the Middle School and JV level to ensure program preparation and consistency. Maintain proper control and discipline in a positive manner by establishing good, wholesome rapport through healthy, professional relationships among students involved in athletic programs. Monitor and enforce student-athlete eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation. Establish and maintain open communication with parents/guardians, students, other coaches, administrators, and faculty. Work with the Director of Athletics to schedule competitions and coordinate travel arrangements. Instruct student-athletes in the proper care and use of materials and equipment. Oversee the process of ordering, cleaning, repairing, and storing athletic equipment and uniforms. Accompany and supervise student-athletes during athletic competitions in softball during away games. Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with the student handbook. Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation. Seniority level
