Opportunity to join UC Santa Barbara’s Physics Department as a Development Technician 1, working on the assembly of silicon detector modules for the HGCAL detector project, part of the CMS experiment at CERN.

Responsibilities
Perform wirebonding and encapsulating of silicon detector modules under close supervision.
Operate automated wirebonders, pull testers, glue dispensing robots, microscopes, and precision tooling.
Execute quality control activities (component surveying, wirebond pull tests) and enter results into spreadsheets and databases.
Assist the supervisor in diagnosing bonding problems.
Report results and work summaries at internal group meetings.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, with one year of related experience, or comparable education/experience.
1–3 years of experience entering data into spreadsheets and databases.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
High precision and manual dexterity.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to take direction and work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field, or equivalent education/training.
Experience performing wirebonding or related tasks.
Experience performing wirebonding or related tasks in a classroom/lab environment.
