Provide high-quality, culturally competent child development and parent support services, emphasizing the parent as the child's first and most important relationship. Assist with child health requirements, screenings, and assessments, supporting Family and Health/Nutrition Services. This position is evolving during the start-up phase for 2 years, requiring flexibility and periodic revisiting of responsibilities. Qualifications and Skills
High School Diploma and Home-Based CDA credential or comparable, or coursework towards an associate’s or bachelor’s degree (60-90 college credits in Social Work, Human Development, or Early Childhood Education preferred) Experience with young children and understanding of adult learning principles Knowledge of community resources Effective communication skills, both oral and written Ability to maintain positive, professional relationships with families Ability to use public transportation and travel independently Ability to work independently Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel Bilingual in English/Chinese or Spanish strongly preferred Pre-employment Requirements
Clearance through NYS DOI Fingerprint Screening, NYS Central Registry, Sex Offender Registry, 3 references, physical exam, TB test, Tdap, MMR, varicella (fees may apply) Meet health requirements per Article 47 (DOHMH) and Head Start standards Mandated Reporter training (every 2 years), policy compliance on child abuse reporting First Aid/CPR and infectious disease certificates within first year Responsibilities
Maintain caseload of 12 participants Conduct weekly 90-minute home visits supporting parents and child development Support pregnant women with prenatal/postpartum care and education Plan and implement parent/child socializations twice monthly Assist families with goal setting and development via Family Partnership Agreement Record and report data using COPA & ACS/DOE systems, ensure compliance and documentation Help families access community resources, including transportation Participate in program governance, recruitment, and intake Maintain flexible schedule, including some evenings and Saturdays Attend professional development, staff meetings, and supervision Lift up to 35 pounds as needed Perform other duties as assigned Application Process
