East Side House Settlement . Location: Mott Haven, 375 East 143rd Street, Bronx, NY 10454. FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt. Salary: $50k annually. East Side House Settlement (ESH) is a community resource in the South Bronx. We believe education is the key that enables all people to create economic and civic opportunities for themselves, their families and the communities. ESH’s Early Childhood programs provide Early Head Start and Head Start services in a safe, supportive, educational environment for children ages 18+ months to 5 years. The comprehensive program serves 231 children daily across five locations, and staff foster partnerships with families to support school readiness and advocate for children and families. Essential Functions Maintain a caseload of 10-12 participants. Provide 90-minute weekly home visits to support parents/guardians as primary caregivers and to facilitate the child’s development within their home environments. In collaboration with the Director of Home-Based Services and assigned staff, plan and implement developmentally appropriate, parent/child-focused Group Socializations twice per month. Lead learning activities to foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development. Ensure necessary materials are available to plan engaging activities for infants and toddlers. Assist parents in identifying strengths and goals leading to school readiness. Collaborate with families to identify goals for themselves, their families and their child, and develop objectives for the Family Partnership Agreement. Record keeping: enter child and family information into the approved child tracking system (CHILD PLUS); assist with collecting health data and enter health-related data into CHILD PLUS; submit reports as needed (e.g., monthly summaries); maintain data for the PIR; monitor referrals for compliance with Head Start/DOHMH regulations. Assist families in accessing community resources, including arranging transportation when necessary. Support family participation in program governance, planning and assessment. Ensure compliance with Head Start regulations and high-quality programming through record keeping and reporting. Help families arrange and keep medical and dental appointments as required by EHS. Work with supervisor and program specialists/consultants to achieve family goals, school readiness and program compliance. Actively participate in program recruitment and intake efforts. Maintain a flexible schedule, including some evenings and/or Saturdays. Attend professional development, staff meetings and reflective supervision sessions. Ability to lift 35 pounds. Other information Work environment: operates in families’ homes and in the office; daily travel required for home visits. Physical demands: ability to carry, lift and move activity supplies; regular talking/listening. Hours of work: full-time, exempt; typically 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.; hours may vary and include weekends or after-hours for program goals. Travel: travel to multiple family homes daily. Experience with community resources and effective oral/written communication with families, staff and community members. Ability to foster positive, professional relationships with participating families. Ability to use public transportation and travel independently. Ability to work independently; strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel. Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
