Dean of the School of Liberal Arts, Business, and Leadership . This is a unique opportunity to shape a newly integrated school that combines graduate, baccalaureate, and associate programs previously part of the School of Business and the School of Humanities, Arts, and Sciences. The
Dean
will provide inspiring leadership, establish a compelling vision, and foster collaboration across disciplines to prepare graduates to lead and influence in a complex, evolving world. As a member of the academic leadership team, the Dean will serve on the
Provost’s Council
and work closely with the Provost and other academic leaders to strengthen collaboration, promote shared governance, and implement consistent academic strategies and policies. The anticipated start date is as soon as possible, no later than
June 2026 . The Dean functions as the strategic leader and champion for the School of Liberal Arts, Business, and Leadership with primary responsibility for all curricular and co-curricular programs, staff, and faculty in the school. To foster the success of our academic programs and our students, the dean will ensure the quality of our programs, strengthen and expand external relationships, mentor and support faculty and staff, and ensure an outstanding student experience. The Dean will oversee the wide array of academic programs at the graduate, associate’s, and bachelor’s levels, as well as the Core Curriculum for undergraduates. The Dean will also generate new resources through fundraising and grants and effectively manage the overall budget of the school to achieve the best outcomes for our students. This leader’s success will come from building on the strengths of an outstanding faculty deeply committed to the mission of the institution and to the success of our diverse student body. Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Academic Management Provide strategic leadership, vision, and overall management of LABL’s program portfolio in collaboration with faculty and staff. Lead strategic planning to advance the School’s mission, enhance quality, and strengthen its reputation. Advocate for liberal arts and inclusive, anti-racist pedagogy in curriculum and programming. Serve as liaison between LABL, other schools, and university administration to foster collaboration and leverage cross-campus partnerships. Identify opportunities for new or modified programs, and recommend elimination of programs deemed ineffective, using data, research, and stakeholder input. Develop and utilize data to support personnel, programmatic, and student-facing decisions. Uphold and maintain accreditation standards across all academic programs. Manage LABL finances, ensuring resources are allocated strategically to support School priorities. Student Success & Experience Foster a culture of inclusive excellence, valuing diversity and equity in student learning. Enhance the student experience across programs, with attention to recruitment, retention, and academic success. Support student skill development for success in diverse workplaces and communities, integrating academic and co-curricular experiences. Faculty & Staff Leadership Facilitate support for teaching, scholarship, professional activities, and service for faculty. Lead faculty and staff recruitment to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion. Oversee faculty and staff evaluations, including input on promotion, tenure, and contract renewal decisions. Ensure professional development opportunities for faculty and staff, including leadership development. External Engagement & Advancement Collaborate with Institutional Advancement to support fundraising for curriculum, scholarships, and capital needs. Build and expand partnerships with external constituents to enhance program impact and strengthen community ties. Create mutually beneficial partnerships for students, the University, educators, companies, and the community to strengthen the workforce pipeline. Demonstrated organizational and administrative expertise, including budgeting and financial skills, use of financial and other data to inform decision-making, programming, change management, and organizational operations. Clear commitment to values and practices of social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Preferred Qualifications Proven experience as a successful administrator with responsibility for guiding strategy, evaluating personnel, motivating faculty and staff, acquiring and allocating resources, engaging external constituencies, and fostering diversity and teamwork to create collaborative relationships across culturally diverse groups. Track record of developing innovative, interdisciplinary programs that equip graduates with skills from multiple fields to meet ever-changing societal and workplace expectations Strong record of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the curriculum and in creating a welcoming and inclusive climate that values diversity and equity in student learning. Entrepreneurialism in generating resources and using them in innovative and strategic ways. Ability to establish relationships with alumni and external partners to support and enhance connections in the cities and region for fundraising, program collaborations, and creating pipelines for our students in career opportunities. Demonstrated experience with implementing programs and supports that enhance academic achievement and success across a range of student and program types. We seek creative, adaptable staff who enjoy working in a university climate that promotes cultural diversity, multicultural understanding, and cultural fluency. The salary for this position is $145,000.00 – $165,000.00, depending on qualifications and experience.
