Through meticulous planning and coordination, constant innovation, and a keen attention to detail, IU Hospitality Sales and Culinary staff ensures that events go off perfectly! IU Catering offers a dynamic, exciting work environment in support of on-campus and off-campus events including fine dining, private parties and events, and casual meetings and gatherings.
Responsibilities
Responds to phone and walk-in inquiries, and conducts site visits, establishing relationships with potential and current clients.
Coordinates with the culinary team on menu creation and delivery for high profile and custom events.
Acts as key point of contact for high profile events such as weddings, conferences, and university celebrations.
Organizes bookings, generates contracts, and develops banquet event orders to ensure accurate details are conveyed.
Upsells packages and food/beverage options, along with cross selling hotel room blocks, to increase profitability.
Supervises execution of banquet events to promote client satisfaction and ensure prompt resolution of any client issues.
Mentors junior staff and coordinates with other departments to ensure quality service.
General Responsibilities
Under moderate supervision, performs routine administrative tasks related to advertising and sales processes.
Responds to customer inquiries and may assist with providing quotes, terms and conditions, and drafting contracts.
Distributes bills and contracts, processes payments, and distributes funds to appropriate account.
Processes documents into the appropriate university database and verifies that information is correct.
Prepares reports of advertising and sales figures.
Regularly conveys various product/service and/or advertising options to potential customers and answers questions about policies and procedures.
May provide guidance to lower-level Advertising/Sales Assistants or hourly employees.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
Work Experience
2 years in relevant field
Skills
Proficient written and verbal communication skills

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Location and Schedule Bloomington, Indiana
$41,600.00 annually
8:30AM to 5:00PM, Monday to Friday with occasional weekends. Shift times vary according to business needs. Management reserves the right to adjust work hours to accommodate special meals and events.
