Business Analyst - (Insurance/ Reinsurance Data Governance) - Hybrid or Remote Arch Capital Group Ltd. is seeking a Data Governance/Metadata Analyst with a strong business analysis and insurance background to join the Data Strategy team. This is a hybrid role based in Farmington, CT with in-office collaboration every Wednesday, or fully remote within the U.S. for exceptional candidates (East Coast preferred). Location and Schedule

Operationalize Data Governance: embed best practices into project workflows and daily work within the Data Governance and Data Management framework. Consult on Projects: partner with cross-functional project teams to ensure alignment with enterprise data governance standards. Support Governance Technologies: assist in the implementation and maintenance of data catalog, MDM/RDM, and data quality tools. Drive Metadata Excellence: collaborate with stakeholders to maintain accurate and accessible metadata across systems. Enable Reference Data Standardization: harmonize reference data across the enterprise through data and business analysis. Job Responsibilities
Project Alignment & Consultation: ensure alignment with Arch’s Data Governance and Data Management framework; provide guidance on data standards, policies, and best practices; review deliverables for governance compliance. Operationalize Governance Framework: support rollout and adoption of governance processes across business units; embed governance in daily operations; maintain governance documentation. Technology Platform Support: assist in implementation, configuration, and maintenance of data catalog platforms (e.g., Collibra, Alation), MDM/RDM platforms, and data quality platforms; monitor usage and provide user onboarding and training. Metadata Management: capture and maintain metadata with data stewards/owners; ensure metadata accuracy and accessibility via the data catalog; support metadata enrichment and classification. Reference Data Standardization: perform data and business analysis to support harmonization of reference data; identify inconsistencies and gaps across systems; work with stakeholders to define standard values. Stakeholder Collaboration: engage with business and technical stakeholders to understand data needs and challenges; facilitate communication between governance, IT, and business teams; promote governance tool adoption. Required Skills
Metadata Management and data cataloging concepts Experience with data governance tools and platforms for MDM/RDM, data quality, and governance workflows Business Analysis: translate requirements into metadata for governance initiatives Data Analysis: analyze data sets to identify inconsistencies, gaps, and data standardization opportunities SQL or querying skills: basic to intermediate Data Modeling Concepts: understanding of data structures and reference data domains Governance & Compliance Knowledge; Data Governance Frameworks MDM and RDM principles Data Quality Management: define and monitor data quality rules and metrics Regulatory Awareness: GDPR, CCPA and compliance requirements Tool Proficiency: Collibra, Informatica Axon, Alation; data quality tools; reporting platforms (PowerBI) Office 365, Confluence, Visio, Lucid Detail-Oriented and Problem-Solving; Adaptability Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, or related field (required or preferred) Minimum 2 years in Data Governance, Metadata Management, Data Quality, MDM/RDM, and Data Stewardship (preferred) Minimum 5 years applying technical and business skills to perform data analysis and translate requirements into metadata and reference data Minimum 5 years experience in Insurance and/or Reinsurance Experience with cloud-based applications and IT security principles Compensation and Benefits
This role offers a base salary range of $110,000 - $130,000 per year. Total compensation may include incentives and is determined by location, scope, qualifications, and business needs.
