TAX ANALYST/ACCOUNTANT

Argo Group/BP&C Shared Services has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a
Tax Analyst . This enthusiastic, self-motivated professional role will be part of a team-oriented environment. Responsibilities for the Tax Analyst include, but are not limited to: Preparation, filing and payment of state premium taxes and sales and use taxes, for all Argo Group companies (monthly/quarterly/annually). Maintain tax records and prepare related schedules and reports. Responsible for the assistance in reconciliation of the premium tax, assessment accrual and surcharge general ledger accounts. Verifying and processing bureau and agency surcharges and fees. Coordinating state auto reporting and filings. Verifying and processing state auto assessments and surcharges. Assist in developing and implementing process improvements. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field from an accredited college/university, or equivalent years of work experience preferred. This position does not require an advanced accounting degree, but a degree in similar fields would be beneficial in exhibiting discipline and ambition. Experience with premium and/or use and sales tax accounting is preferred. Must have PC proficiency in an MS Windows environment; advanced MS Excel required to manipulate large amounts of data. Attention to detail, persistence in identifying inconsistencies, high degree of accuracy and excellent organizational skills to support reporting for multiple regulating entities simultaneously. Deadline-oriented to consistently submit error-free work timely and accurately. Willingness to work collaboratively toward improved processes. Analytical ability to review previous work results and extrapolate processes with current data. Strong written skills to create process documentation and work papers. Prior experience in process improvement and/or the property/casualty insurance business is a significant plus. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
