Tax Analyst . This is a team-oriented, professional role for a self-motivated individual. Responsibilities for the Tax Analyst include, but are not limited to: Preparation, filing and payment of state premium taxes and sales and use taxes for all Argo Group companies (monthly/quarterly/annually). Maintain tax records and prepare related schedules and reports. Assist in reconciliation of premium tax, assessment accrual and surcharge general ledger accounts. Verify and process bureau and agency surcharges and fees. Coordinate state auto reporting and filings. Verify and process state auto assessments and surcharges. Assist in developing and implementing process improvements. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field from an accredited college/university, or equivalent years of work experience preferred. A degree in similar fields is beneficial; advanced accounting degree is not required. Experience with premium and/or use and sales tax accounting is preferred. PC proficiency in an MS Windows environment; advanced MS Excel required to manipulate large data sets. Attention to detail with high accuracy and strong organizational skills to support reporting for multiple regulating entities. Deadline-oriented and able to submit error-free work timely. Willingness to collaborate toward improved processes. Analytical ability to review results and extrapolate processes with current data. Strong written skills to create process documentation and work papers. Prior experience in process improvement and/or the property/casualty insurance business is a plus.
