Base pay range $95,000.00/yr - $105,000.00/yr

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of our financial data, preparing timely financial statements, and ensuring compliance with all accounting standards and regulations. The Senior Accountant will manage complex accounting tasks, support the annual audit process, and may provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Month-End Close:

Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including maintaining the general ledger, preparing and posting journal entries, and executing month-end and year-end close processes in a timely manner.

Reconciliations & Analysis:

Perform complex monthly and quarterly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, bank statements, and subsidiary ledgers to ensure accuracy and address discrepancies. Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on financial status, reserves, assets, and expenditures to management.

Financial Reporting & Compliance:

Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Assist in tax preparation and compliance, including income tax returns and audits.

Audits & Controls:

Coordinate and actively participate in external and internal audits by preparing necessary work papers and serving as a key liaison for auditors. Monitor and document internal controls to ensure adherence to established procedures.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

Assist in the development and monitoring of departmental and organizational budgets, providing analysis of budget versus actual reports and contributing to financial forecasting efforts.

Leadership & Mentorship:

Supervise, train, and mentor junior accountants and accounting assistants, planning their work and reviewing for accuracy.

Process Improvement:

Proactively identify opportunities to streamline and improve accounting operations, leveraging technology and recommending updates to existing accounting systems and policies.

Qualifications & Skills

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is a plus.

Experience:

A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience is typically required, preferably in a senior or supervisory role.

Certifications:

CPA or CMA certification is highly desirable and may be a required credential for certain responsibilities.

Technical Skills:

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential, along with hands‑on experience with financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, Sage Intacct).

Knowledge:

Deep understanding of US GAAP and relevant federal and state laws and regulations.

Soft Skills:

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills; excellent attention to detail; superior written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
