ABOUT THE ROLE
This individual will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, overseeing key accounting functions, and supporting the Director of Accounting in driving efficiency, accuracy, and compliance across all accounting processes. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting knowledge, a proactive mindset for problem-solving, and the ability to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Month-End, Quarter-End, and Year-End Close
Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close in collaboration with the Director of Accounting.
Prepare journal entries, maintain the general ledger, and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
Assist with revenue recognition, direct expenses, and inventory adjusting entries.
Review and explain variances to budget, forecast, and prior reporting periods.
Accounts Payable & Cash Management
Manage positive pay and approve AP ACH transactions.
Reconcile cash on hand daily and perform monthly bank account and line of credit reconciliations.
Reconcile inter-company accounts across four companies and handle inter-company invoicing.
Accounts Receivable & Invoicing
Own the invoicing and accounts receivable process, including daily and monthly invoicing.
Manage specialized invoicing such as AIA construction invoicing and portal-based invoicing.
Oversee credit balances and ensure timely payment posting.
Manage the soft collection process by creating and updating issues for aged AR to be worked by Account Managers.
Payroll
Manage the entire weekly payroll process, including processing payroll, reporting, journal entry creation, and monthly accruals.
Process Improvements
Identify automation opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort.
Investigate and resolve complex or unusual financial activity.
EXPECTATIONS
Daily journal entry postings.
Daily cash and account reconciliations.
Accurate and timely reporting of financial results.
Close collaboration with the Director of Accounting to ensure an efficient and compliant accounting close process.Consistently meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE NEEDED
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or progress toward CPA strongly preferred).
3–5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity environment.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS NEEDED
Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
Proficiency with accounting software, QuickBooks Online and advanced Excel skills.
Experience with AIA construction invoicing and payroll management preferred.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
