Purpose The Plant Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the financial operations of the production facility. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, cost analysis, inventory management, and compliance with internal controls. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
Key objectives and responsibilities Cost Accounting & Analysis
Maintain and analyze standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead.
Monitor production variances and provide insights to operations and management.
Prepare monthly cost reports and margin analysis.
Inventory Management
Reconcile inventory accounts and ensure accurate valuation of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
Support physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
Assist in month-end and year-end close processes.
Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Support the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
Collaborate with plant leadership to align financial goals with operational plans.
Internal Controls & Compliance
Maintain and improve internal control procedures.
Ensure compliance with corporate policies, SOX requirements, and regulatory standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with operations, procurement, and corporate finance teams.
Provide financial insights to support decision-making and process improvements.
Other duties as assigned.
Required education/experiences
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2+ years of accounting experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Preferred education/experiences
Experience in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
