Competitive Salary + Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits About Us: Headwall Investments is a dynamic and growing commercial real estate private equity firm specializing in retail acquisitions and urban infill redevelopment. With $240 million in real estate under management and over 27 properties housed across multiple entities, we are actively deploying capital through two shopping center acquisition funds and an urban infill redevelopment fund. As we scale, we are seeking a Senior Accountant to support our Senior Vice President of Accounting and Finance and Controller in all accounting functions at the firm. This is an opportunity to be a key financial team member at a firm with an ambitious growth trajectory and excellent job progression prospects. Key Responsibilities Manage and reconcile consolidated property accounting for commercial real estate assets, ensuring accuracy across operating entities Support fund-level accounting for private CRE funds, including tracking capital activity, investment activity reconciliations, and the preparation of NAV packages and financial statements Analyze legal agreements related to real estate ownership, translating terms into accounting treatments Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes across fund and asset levels Assist with corporate accounting functions, including cash management, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting Calculate and report carried interest, priority distributions, and profit-sharing arrangements in accordance with partnership agreements Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to support the overarching accounting and finance functions Identify and implement process improvements and support ad hoc projects Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance required; Master's degree preferred. 5-10 years of experience in accounting, preferably in commercial real estate, investment management, or private equity Strong knowledge of fair value GAAP and audited financial statement preparation utilizing the non-operating accounting method Familiarity with commercial real estate property accounting (i.e., consolidated property accounting) and operations Familiarity with private commercial real estate (CRE) funds, including common fund and investment structures as well as the asset types Familiarity with carried interest/priority distributions/profit sharing arrangements and how to calculate and report Experience in analyzing various legal agreements related to owning, operating, financing, and disposing of real estate through investment structures Experience managing relationships with 3rd party strategic service providers (e.g., auditors, fund administrators, tax preparers/consultants) Experience with or interest in corporate accounting Proficiency with Microsoft suite of products, specifically must display strong Excel skills Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to form, manage, and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders Ability to work within a small team with entrepreneurial mindset Desire for process improvement/implement best-in-class procedures Detailed and organized Motivated/Growth-oriented (desire to grow into Controller position) CPA license Performance reporting, including asset-level and fund-level metrics Budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning at various tiers of a CRE fund Familiarity with valuation methodologies for commercial real estate AI/RPA creation and implementation Experience working with joint venture sponsors/operators Experience preparing investor reports and client questionnaires Why Join Us?
