Position Summary: This position will be responsible for accounting functions for the Center for Tropical and Emerging Global Diseases (CTEGD). This position plans, organizes, reviews, analyzes, and provides fiscal duties as assigned to assist the Business Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:
Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
Excellent organizational skills as necessary to manage multi-faceted tasks. Reliably carries out instructions and responsibilities thoroughly, completely, and in a timely manner.
Possesses exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain professional and personal credibility in interactions with academic leadership, faculty and staff.
Works effectively and collaboratively with staff, co-workers, supervisor, students, faculty, and other stakeholders.
Communicate clearly and professionally.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel), and the organizational and computer skills to use key university systems (e.g. UGAMart, PeopleSoft, OneSource) and the standard office software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, etc.).

Duties/Responsibilities
Process General Ledger and Accounts Payable Vouchers and departmental deposits.
Prepare documentation for and initiate staff and faculty travel authorities, payment requests, and purchase requisitions upon request taking appropriate actions in UGA systems to ensure requests are timely and accurately processed. Track and follow up on actions as necessary.
Assist labs with orders and approve requisitions in UGAMart.
Review project reports, assist Faculty with budget forecasting, policy interpretation, and/or compliance monitoring each month.
Management of the 3 Core facilities under The Office of Research which includes intra-university invoicing, deposits, UGAMart orders, monthly financial reporting to core managers and maintain co-funding spreadsheets to include journal entries for income transactions, invoicing and co-funding.
Responsible for annual inventory and all related inventory duties throughout the year to include off campus compliance, equipment surplus requests and equipment transfers.
Provide administrative support for CTEGD staff and Business Manager and special projects assigned by supervisor and director.
Assist Faculty with grant budgets/justifications and initial setup in the SPA portal. Responsible for bi-weekly payroll approvals as the department\'s time and attendance manager.
Assist in planning and organizing CTEGD\'s Annual Symposium to include assisting keynote speakers travel and accommodations.
