Overview
TurbinePROs is seeking a highly organized Project Accountant to work out of our Dayton, MN office (hybrid option available). The Project Accountant is a key business partner for the project management team, providing financial analysis of project performance, understanding of revenue recognition policies and processes, and insight that helps drive profitability, operational efficiencies, and positive cash flow. The individual is responsible for ensuring that revenue, cost of sales, receivables, and work-in-process are properly recorded in accordance with company policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the United States (USGAAP).
Responsibilities
Set-up and maintain project records in ERP Project Accounting and other tracking systems.
Collaborate with Project Managers (PM) and Contract Administrators (CA) to analyze project costs and understand cost variances.
Support PM and CA in the timely issuance of invoices with a strong focus on managing Accounts Receivables and Project Cash Flows.
Ensure accurate project cost accruals through the reconciliation of project accruals and accounts payable with project reports, vendor invoices, and statements.
Ensure project revenue budgets agree with customer contracts/purchase orders and cost budgets reflect reasonable and accurate estimates to complete.
Ensure that project revenue recognition reflects an accurate measure of progress in accordance with company policies and USGAAP.
Prepare and process journal entries and reconcile key general ledger accounts, including Unbilled Receivables, Unearned Revenue, Work in Process, Accruals, and Revenue and Cost of Sales.
Review revenue budgets and cost estimates for major projects; report significant swings and quantify impacts on overall progress and costs to complete.
Support development of monthly project forecasts and financial reports; and Assist the Operations Controller and other accounting and finance team members as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
A minimum of 2 years of professional accounting experience is required, ideally with exposure to project or contract accounting. Candidates with more extensive experience will also be considered.
Knowledge of USGAAP, primarily related to revenue recognition and percentage of completion.
Knowledge and experience in cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting and account reconciliation and analysis.
Experience with Oracle Project Accounting or similar ERP platform.
Demonstrated expertise with Excel and data export and analysis tools.
Strong ability to communicate effectively with management, commercial and operations personnel.
Highly organized, thorough, and accurate in completion of tasks, and ability to prioritize effectively.

The employee must be able to lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required: Close vision, Distance vision and Ability to adjust focus.
Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear; frequently required to walk; occasionally required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
Work environment predominantly in an office setting within a manufacturing context with potential for higher noise levels when interacting with plant personnel.
