Salary: $68,049.80 - $78,049.80 Anticipated Salary: $73,049.80 Grade: 22 Closing Date: October 21, 2025

Job Summary Under the general direction of the Appraisal Unit Supervisor, this position provides direction to appraisal unit staff and consultants, as well as timely, accurate and comprehensive appraisal review to ensure compliance with USPAP, federal, state and ADOT statutes, regulations, policies and procedures, and ensures the appraisal analysis supports and documents the appraisals. Participates in identifying and implementing process improvements. Responsible for ensuring confidential R/W information is compiled to support acquisition values and timely project clearances. Expedites critical projects and ensures that Appraisal functions are finalized with no outstanding issues. This position maintains a direct confidential working relationship with R/W Administration and Management and directly advises on outstanding issues.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures. The first six (6) months of employment must be in the office.

Job Duties

Provides guidance and mentoring to Appraisal Unit staff and consultants; Oversees project estimates and in-house appraisals, ensuring best practices are used.

Works closely with the R/W Administration and Management and advises of any potential concerns.

Conducts a comprehensive review of in-house and consultant appraisal packages to ensure compliance with USPAP, federal and state statutes, ADOT and R/W regulations and policies.

Evaluates and resolves technical and complex appraisal issues with Project Team members, consultants, property owners, developers, attorneys, and appraisers.

Conducts special projects and studies as requested by management and assists the Attorney General's Office with litigation support.

Attends and participates in professional development and other meetings as required.

May drive a state vehicle in the course and scope of state business. Statewide travel and overnight lodging as needed to support all primary responsibilities.

Selective Preference(s) An Arizona Certified General Real Estate Appraisal License is required, plus 5 years experience as an Appraiser Ill, providing governmental eminent domain partial acquisition appraisals or equivalent work experience.

Pre-Employment Requirements This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess a current, valid driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance. Valid State of Arizona driver’s license. Valid FingerPrints on file. Certified Arizona General Real Estate Appraiser License.
