The Staff Accountant

supports corporate accounting functions and plays a key role in maintaining accurate and timely financial records. This position is responsible for various aspects of accounting operations, including cash entries, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, prepaids and accruals, journal entries, month-end close, financial statements, and budgeting. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Staff Accountant collaborates with Accounting Managers, VPs of Accounting, and the broader accounting team to ensure consistency and compliance across all locations. This role also assists with the annual audit and tax process, provides guidance to accounting support staff, and contributes to ongoing process improvements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare and assist with bank reconciliations and entries for Oracle bank statement activity. Support accounts receivable billings and cash receipts; understand their impact on the general ledger. Assist with processing vendor invoices and expense reports; ensure accurate posting to the general ledger. Support bi-weekly payroll processing and related journal entries. Record inventory transfers requested by Purchasing and Materials Management. Prepare monthly entries for prepaids, accruals, and other recurring journal entries. Assist with intercompany reconciliations and month-end close activities. Contribute to preparing monthly financial statements as needed. Roll proposals to jobs and close inactive proposals. Provide information, reports, and spreadsheets for annual audit and tax return preparation. Post quarterly and annual shareholder entries for state income taxes. Support insurance renewals and audits with required financial data. Develop cross-functional knowledge of purchasing, time entry, A/R, A/P, and financial reporting. Maintain and update internal control documentation. Identify and support process or system improvements. Limited travel ( Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned. Work Environment

Work is primarily performed in an office setting. Occasional exposure to harsh conditions such as dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather or temperatures may occur. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear personal protective equipment in designated areas. Physical Demands

Regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, reach with arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear. Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 pounds regularly. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. 2–3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience required. Understanding of project cost accounting, billing, and financial reporting. Knowledge of payroll processes and labor hours, including general ledger impact. Familiarity with billing and cash receipts and their effect on financial statements. Professional, reliable, and trustworthy; ability to handle confidential information. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Proficient in time management and multitasking. Ability to learn and adapt quickly. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel; experience with Viewpoint Vista or Oracle Fusion is a plus.
