Cityside Fiber is seeking a motivated Lead Fiber Drop Technician to join our Field Operations team. This role is responsible for maintenance, installation, and quality oversight of telecom infrastructure (fiber, conduit, related equipment) at customer premises and plays a key part in installation and maintenance of fiber-based internet services.
Responsibilities
Perform the physical installation and maintenance of buried fiber, conduit and related equipment from the curb to the customers' residence
Perform splicing in accordance with company procedures and industry standards
Perform placement of aerial fiber optic cable on customer premises
Perform installations and replacements of aerial and underground fiber drop cable
Interpret work drawings and instructions and complete necessary paperwork
Lead a drop crew and mentor junior drop technicians
Trenching and preparing area for telecom infrastructure installation
Restoring soft landscaping following telecom infrastructure installation
Follow established safety protocols and procedures when installing fiber, conduit and related equipment
Ensure that all installations meet quality standards and take corrective action as needed
Communicate with customers to schedule installations, answer questions and provide updates on the status of their installation
Document all installation and maintenance activities in accordance with company procedures
Contribute to a culture of trust, integrity, and collaboration
Understand and uphold Cityside Fiber's core purpose and values and be passionate about what we do
Qualifications
High school degree or GED or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience in internet service provider or contractor performing telecom infrastructure installation tasks
Advanced skills in splicing and proven experience serving as a lead for drop crews
Proficient understanding of utility markings and ability to read and interpret fiber network design maps, splice plans, and MOPs
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure
Familiarity with standard safety protocols and procedures, and a commitment to working safely in the field
Strong knowledge of the fiber internet market and technology trends
Understanding of telecommunication infrastructure and networking concepts
Able to lift 70 pounds, move heavy equipment, dig trenches, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
Valid state driver's license, good driving record, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance
