Exempt The Systems Engineer is responsible for provisioning, configuring, operating, and maintaining the organization's server, storage, and compute resources. This role ensures high system reliability and performance, supports both on-prem and cloud infrastructure, and contributes to IT standards, disaster recovery, and automation efforts. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, SAN/storage, hybrid cloud (Azure/AWS), and enterprise IT environments. Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day operations of servers, storage, and compute resources, including monitoring performance and system integrity. Evaluate, install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems, and application software. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and system documentation. Implement and test disaster recovery plans; manage backup and data protection systems. Provide Tier III support and troubleshooting for end-users and junior IT staff. Optimize performance, plan hardware upgrades, and ensure high availability of mission-critical systems. Support virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere/ESXi) and hybrid cloud deployments (Azure or AWS). Maintain enterprise storage solutions, SAN configurations, and network services (DHCP, DNS, PKI, etc.). Automate processes using PowerShell, VBScript, or other scripting tools. Stay current with technology trends and recommend improvements to systems and processes. Support compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements. Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience. Certifications (Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, etc.) are a plus. Experience:
5+ years in systems engineering or administration in enterprise environments; healthcare experience preferred. Advanced knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory (including ADFS), IIS, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, Terminal Services, Failover Clustering, and PKI. Experience with hybrid cloud architecture, virtualization (VMware), SAN/storage technologies, and disaster recovery. Proficient in automation/scripting (PowerShell, VBScript) and SharePoint Online. Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, project management, and communication skills. Characteristics
