OUC is presently seeking a
Permit Technician
to join the
Electric & Water Distribution

We are looking for a highly organized and accurate professional to create, maintain and update electrical and water drawings to obtain the necessary permits from various governing authorities. Impeccable communication skills and a sense of urgency are required to respond to governing agencies and to make necessary changes.
In this role, you will be responsible for utilizing GIS/AutoCAD or similar systems in the facilitation of preparing permit submittals. Submittals must be prepared and tracked throughout the lifecycle of the permitting process. We are looking for detail-oriented candidates who seek long term growth with OUC.

The ideal candidate will have:
Responsibilities
Prepare accurate and comprehensive permit packages tailored to each project using AutoCAD or similar programs, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations
Monitor status and track permits through the permitting process, including applications acceptance, plan review, inspections, permit closure, and stakeholder updates
Communicate with local governing authorities to obtain necessary civil engineering plans to complete permit submittals (e.g., City of Orlando, Orange County, City of St. Cloud, Osceola County, Florida Department of Transportation, South Florida Water Management, Central Florida Expressway)
Notify governing authorities regarding proposed emergency work
Respond to comments from agencies and make changes to obtain permits
Create, maintain and update electrical and water drawings to obtain permits from various authorities
Create, review and edit detailed drawings, plans and maps using AutoCAD or similar programs
Record and manage documents to facilitate project progress
Export, archive and import drawing files for the Electric Water Delivery department
Conduct field investigations to locate and verify structures within OUC facilities
Coordinate data exchange with internal and external customers
Provide exceptional customer service to peers, OUC staff, field personnel, supervisory staff, and external stakeholders
Assist with creating CAD drawings for engineering personnel
Perform other duties as assigned
Technical Requirements
Working knowledge of civil engineering drawings, electrical and water facility diagrams, drawing standards, documentation and safety procedures
Software applications: AutoCAD, Autodesk Vault (drawing database), Footprints, ePets, Adobe, Google Maps
Familiarity with permitting processes, building and construction plans, and related policies and laws
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and computer skills with ability to manage workflows and multitask
Ability to perform arithmetic computations and use Microsoft Office Suite
Education / Certification / Years of Experience
High School Diploma or GED
Vocational/Technical Certificate Coursework (Mechanical & Architectural Drafting, AutoCAD 1 & 2; Industrial Drafting & Design / Piping & Mechanical Design; Academic, Drafting & Design)
Minimum of three (3) years of CAD designing/drafting experience
Utility or construction permitting experience preferred
Special Training to be completed within one year of hire, including MOT Certified Courses, Defensive Driving, Autodesk Vault, ArcMap, Safety
Working Conditions This job is mostly performed in an office work environment without disagreeable conditions.
Physical Requirements This job requires constant detailed inspection/reading/English, frequent speaking and hearing, and very frequent typing, writing and sitting. It may involve frequent walking, repetitive motions, and operating machines or equipment. It may involve occasionally driving a company vehicle.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $24.29 - $30.36 hourly ($50,500 - $63,150 annually), commensurate with experience
