Beacon Health System Summary: Responsible for collecting, maintaining, and providing timely, accurate, and complete paper and/or electronic patient health information (PHI) to authorized users in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Participates in training and ongoing education to ensure compliance with current health information management regulations and supports HIPAA education for hospital staff. Responsibilities
Process patient requests for PHI under HIPAA/HITECH guidelines; ensure all releases are compliant before fulfillment. Educate HIM and hospital staff on HIPAA regulations through formal quarterly training and informal guidance as needed. Attend HIPAA-related seminars and webinars to stay updated on current regulations. Manage and maintain accurate patient records; prepare, scan, and index PHI into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Greet and assist in-office visitors and respond promptly to phone inquiries. Assign and track physician record deficiencies; generate notifications and support record completion to ensure compliance. Retrieve and track discharged patient records daily; follow up on missing documentation. Order departmental supplies and assist with inventory management. Participate in regular department meetings and required hospital training/in-services. Education
High school diploma or GED required. Experience
Previous experience in a hospital office or healthcare setting required. Seniority level
