Overview
Cardiac Monitor Tech - Central Telemetry Unit role at WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals. This position provides cardiac monitoring and related administrative support in a centralized telemetry unit. Responsibilities
Performs cardiac monitoring for telemetry and hard-wire monitored patients, identifies changes, responds to alarms, and reports rhythm or life-threatening events to medical and nursing staff. Analyzes, interprets, and documents ECG strip waveforms; records patient rhythms and changes per established guidelines. Uploads patient rhythms/events to EPIC using Wave Strip Export; monitors pulse oximetry for assigned patients; uses Epic/Telemetry Dashboard for Admissions/Discharges/Transfers. Assembles telemetry packs, batteries, and electrodes for nursing staff; maintains inventory of clean packs and batteries. Monitors equipment, assists with troubleshooting, and notifies appropriate leadership (e.g., Healthcare Technology Supervisor, Nurse Manager) as needed. Greet and admit patients to the department; perform routine clerical operations to ensure smooth unit communication and functioning (admit/transfer/discharge/follow-up care information, mail distribution, supplies). Organize and maintain patient and department records to ensure accurate documentation; coordinate intradepartmental and interdepartmental communication. Welcome visitors and respond helpfully to requests for information; provide requested patient or department information in accordance with hospital policy on Release of Patient Information. Coordinate and facilitate ongoing patient transportation and information sharing to ensure timely operations. Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent Obtain certification in Heartsaver or Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire Additional Qualifications
Completion of Basic Dysrhythmia course (to be completed as established by department) Preferred: Graduate of Technical Education Program or Medical Assistant Program Core Duties and Responsibilities
