Performs a wide range of clerical duties in support of the assigned patient care department, as well as extensive monitoring of all cardiac telemetry and hard-wire monitored patients. This position monitors a specified number of patients with pulse oximetry and capnography in a centralized location.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: High School Diploma or equivalent Obtain certification in Heartsaver OR Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date To be completed as established by department: (Administered at Department level) Successful completion of a Basic Dysrhythmia course. EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: Graduate of Technical Education Program or Medical Assistant Program. Performs cardiac monitoring for all telemetry and hard-wire monitored patients, identifying changes, addressing alarms, and reporting abnormal heart rhythms or life-threatening cardiac events to medical and nursing staff. Analyzes, interprets, and measures ECG strip waveform displays, documents each patient's rhythm and changes, and reports these according to guidelines and protocols. Utilizes Wave Strip Export to upload patient's cardiac rhythms/events to the EPIC chart. Monitors pulse oximetry for the assigned patient population as applicable. Uses Epic/Telemetry Dashboard to ensure accuracy of patient admissions, discharges, and transfers. Assembles telemetry packs, batteries, and electrodes for nursing staff, maintaining inventory. Monitors equipment and troubleshoots malfunctions, notifying appropriate personnel. Handles greeting and admitting functions upon patients' arrival. Performs routine clerical operations to ensure smooth communication and functioning of the unit. Organizes and maintains patient and department records for accurate documentation. Coordinates ongoing communication for efficient intra- and interdepartmental operations. Welcomes visitors and responds courteously to requests for assistance. Assists physicians and staff with information requests in accordance with hospital policies. Coordinates and facilitates transport of patients within the facility. For facilities with specialty accreditation requirements: Completion of annual education related to accreditation standards, through various training methods. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Manual dexterity, ability to sit for long periods, normal vision/hearing, and visual monitoring of multiple screens. WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Standard clinical environment with accommodations as needed. SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Troubleshoots technology with biomedical engineering and clinical staff. Works cooperatively as part of a team with a positive attitude. Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
