Associate Legal Assistant – Oklahoma City, OK (Hybrid)
GEICO is hiring an Associate Legal Assistant to perform mid-level legal assistant and administrative duties for a Staff Counsel Office.
Responsibilities
Develop a working knowledge of legal concepts, practices, and Staff Counsel procedures applicable by jurisdiction.
Draft and revise routine legal documents and support attorneys in preparing pleadings, routine motions, notices, jury demands, routine discovery, and other discovery documents.
Handle multiple administrative tasks to support attorneys, including reviewing invoices, scheduling, and managing court filings and suits via mail, in-person, or e‑filing.
Assist with the discovery process by gathering, compiling, and drafting discovery responses, coordinating client signatures, and scheduling IMEs.
Maintain attorney and office calendars, rescheduling and confirming appointments, including depositions, trials, conferences, and hearings.
Provide training and onboarding support for Staff Counsel support staff and maintain relationships with attorneys, outside departments, courts, clients, and third parties.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a legal secretary, paralegal, or legal assistant handling personal injury litigation matters.
Experience preparing routine pleadings, motions, petitions, prehearing and arbitration statements, admissions, notices, jury demands, discovery, and correspondence under attorney supervision.
Managed court filings and suits via mail, in-person, or e‑filing.
Experience handling paper and electronic mail.
Ability to maintain attorney and office calendars and coordinate appointments.
Reviewed invoices to ensure compliance with the Company’s Expense Policy.
Assisted in the discovery process, including coordinating medical records and disclosure documents.
Communicated with clients, claims personnel, adversaries, and tribunals as needed and referred complex inquiries to the appropriate attorney.
Notary license required at location (may need to obtain and maintain).
Proficient in case management system and email.
