The Quality Process Controller position involves sampling, measuring and verifying that manufactured products meet pre-determined quality standards. Key Performance Indicators
Safety adherence, including forklift safety policies. Preventative maintenance schedule adherence. Ability to handle parts without damaging people, parts or property. Timely and accurate record keeping. Essential Job Responsibilities
Generate loading maps and charts. Load and light-up forge furnaces (box and rotary). Measure the temperature of forged parts using an infrared optical pyrometer. Measure hot and cold forged parts and document dimensions. Implement fixed process requirements such as cooling method, temperature deviation and wall reduction. Work with shop orders and specific customers. Monitor soak times and temperatures on the golds. Understand basic forging terminology and call out dimensions on gold. Understand load, reheats, transfers, and record measurements of hot and cold forged parts. Maintain lot traceability (serial number). Operate optical gun and aluminum handheld devices for hourly temperature measurements of forged parts with an infrared pyrometer. Data entry using Oracle software (write-up). Verify tooling number and temperature before forging parts. Forklift training and safe operation of mobile equipment, perform forklift checks, and safely gas up manipulator. Move product between processes and load/unload material. Interact with manufacturing staff to meet production goals (cycle times, output log, etc.). Set up Wyman Gordon & Nuclear packages (furnace charts, loading maps, metallurgist reports). Start up and shut down furnaces; assist co-workers and metrology with furnace issues. Replace spur plug and wire, and clean Fireye scanner. Program parameters of UDC2500 and UDC3200; adjust for initial start up of new furnaces. Furnace burner adjustments and understanding of furnace primary parts. Understand Fireye flame safety system and Maxon gas valves. Update QA documentation due to schedule changes and communicate information to Lead, Process Control & Blacksmith. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education/Experience
High school / GED or Technical College degree. 0-2 years experience in forge industry is a plus (level 1). 3+ years’ experience in forge industry (level 2). Experience in forge industry is highly preferred but not required. Physical Demands
