Staff (Trust) Accountant (6-month Contract) Base pay range : $35.00/hr - $45.00/hr Annual Salary Range : $55,000 – $62,000, depending on experience. Summary
The Trust Accountant will perform monthly reconciliations of trust accounts in SecurManage against trial balances to ensure accuracy, compliance, and integrity of fiduciary funds. This role supports Department of Corrections (DOC) financial compliance requirements and ensures that all trust transactions are properly recorded, reconciled, and documented in accordance with GAAP and internal SOPs. Key Responsibilities
Perform monthly three-way reconciliations of trust account balances (Bank, General Ledger, individual trust subledgers) in SecurManage against trial balances. Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner, documenting findings and corrective actions. Review and validate trust transactions, including weekly draws, special checks, subsistence payments, COPS, family obligations, and resident loans in collaboration with Re-entry Compliance Specialist. Maintain accurate reconciliation records and supporting documentation for audit readiness, ensuring compliance with GAAP requirements. Reconcile unclaimed funds and prepare documentation for remittance to the Florida Department of Financial Services per statutory requirements in collaboration with Re-entry Compliance Specialist. Ensure compliance with GAAP, DOC contractual obligations, state unclaimed property laws, and internal SOPs. Perform other accounting, reconciliation, and financial tasks or special projects as assigned by management. Required Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in trust account reconciliations or fiduciary accounting work. Knowledge of three-way reconciliations (Bank, GL, subledger) and reconciliation processes for multiple ledgers and trial balances. Familiarity with fiduciary accounting software (SecurManage preferred). High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to meet strict deadlines. Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with Department of Corrections trust accounting or similar regulated fiduciary environments. Familiarity with statutory trust requirements, DOC financial compliance, and unclaimed property laws. Experience resolving complex reconciliation discrepancies in high-volume environments. Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience. Benefits
