Overview
Phipps Houses is one of the nation’s oldest and largest not-for-profit developer/owners of affordable housing. It is a multi-faceted real estate organization, involved in the development, finance, construction and asset management of new and rehabilitated multi-family housing for low to middle income New Yorkers. Through its subsidiary, Phipps Houses Services, Inc., it conducts residential and some commercial property management, and its tax exempt affiliate, Phipps Neighborhoods, provides human services to its development communities. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Prepare journal entries in accordance with GAAP for multiple properties Prepare complete set of workpaper schedules in accordance with GAAP Perform monthly bank reconciliations Prepare internal and audit ready financial statements Analyze and explain operating variances from budget Work directly with outside auditors Experience with HUD and rental subsidies a plus Respond to ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests as needed Work Experience Requirements
Minimum five-ten years of real estate accounting experience (public and/or private) Excellent computer proficiency (Yardi, Excel) Excellent verbal and written communication skills Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting required Certifications/Licenses
CPA preferred Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given. Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
