$75,000.00/yr - $95,000.00/yr The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s payroll, ensuring accurate and timely compensation for all employees. This role requires exceptional analytical and data management skills, with a strong emphasis on using Microsoft Excel for complex calculations, auditing, and reporting. The specialist will work closely with Accounting to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. Core duties and responsibilities

Payroll processing and administration: Accurately process multi-state payroll on a bi-weekly or monthly basis for all salaried and hourly employees, including wages, bonuses, commissions, and overtime. Audit and verify timesheets, deductions, and payroll changes submitted by management or through the HRIS to ensure data accuracy before processing. Manage and process special payroll runs, such as manual checks, final paychecks for terminated employees, or off-cycle payments. Reconcile payroll data with general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial records. Compliance and reporting

Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws, including the accurate and timely remittance of payroll taxes. Manage and respond to requests for wage garnishments, child support orders, and other levies, ensuring all legal requirements are met. Prepare and file quarterly and annual payroll tax reports, including Form 941s and W-2s, verifying data integrity using Excel. Collaborate with auditors during internal and external payroll audits, providing requested documentation and reports. Employee support and collaboration

Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, tax withholdings, and benefits. Maintain strict confidentiality and security of all payroll and employee information. Work closely with the HR department to ensure all new hire data, terminations, and employee changes are accurately reflected in the payroll system. Required skills and qualifications

An associate's or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred. Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role. High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, PivotTables, and data analysis. Strong understanding of federal and state payroll regulations and tax laws. Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy with numerical data. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines. Prior experience with payroll software such as PayCorp or related. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot payroll discrepancies.
